The catastrophic vanishing of Malaysian flight MH370 in midair has hatched several conspiracy theories. These Theories span from supernatural intervention to the influence of the illuminati.

The reason why a Malaysia Airlines flight carrying 239 people disappeared on Saturday is still as mysterious as when the plane first lost radar contact. While fears of terrorism began to fade when it was revealed Tuesday that one of the infamous stolen passports was held by a 19-year-old Iranian asylum seeker with no terrorist ties, search teams now have even fewer explanations for what might have happened. When asked where the plane could be, air traffic controller Izhar Bahari at Malaysia’s Department of Civil Aviation told TIME, “We’ve made no progress, we don’t have a clue.”

In the absence of any definitive answer, conspiracy theorists have emerged with explanations of their own, however implausible. While there’s no credible evidence to support these theories, here are the ones getting the most attention:

1. Eerie cell phones rings could mean passengers’ phones are still on—or inhabited by ghosts: Relatives and friends of the plane’s passengers said they were able to find their loved ones on a Chinese instant messenger service called QQ, reports the Washington Post. Others tried calling the vanished passengers’ phones and heard ringtones even though the calls were not picked up. Many thought the phones might still be on, and more than 100 of them signed a petition to the Malaysian government to hurriedly investigate.

That led more suspicious observers to fire off rounds of irrational theories. Did the mysterious ringing indicate the passengers had been kidnapped and are still alive somewhere? Or was it the supernatural at work?

2. An otherworldly portal could have sucked up the flight: “If we never find the debris, it means some entirely new, mysterious and powerful force is at work on our planet which can pluck airplanes out of the sky without leaving behind even a shred of evidence,” said one blogger. Was it an alien abduction? Others ask.

3. The flight’s disappearance was predetermined and perhaps written into the very fabric of the universe: Reddit is rife with commenters fixated on the numerical coincidences of the flight’s disappearance. “Interesting numerology,” said one Reddit user, RedditB. “Flight 370 disappears on 3/7 while reportedly traveling 3,700 km. Flight 370 flew at an altitude of 37,000 feet when it was last reported using flight tracking software. Luigi Maraldi, age 37, was one of the individuals whose passport was stolen. Malaysia Airlines is one of Asia’s largest, flying nearly 37,000 passengers daily. As of today, we are beginning the 37th month since the Fukushima tragedy, which is located on the 37th degree and initially caused 37 injuries at the plant.”

4. The North Koreans hijacked the jet: Others have argued the jet was hijacked by North Koreans and flown to Pyongyang. One Reddit user, Nickryane, claims the plane had enough fuel to fly to North Korea and remain within cell phone range. The dictatorship hijacked a jet in 1969, so Kim Jong-un would be pulling an old card out of the deck.

5. The Illuminati did it: One guess points to the supposed vortex energy points on the earth’s surface that Illuminati “and/or ancient aliens” who can control the energy grid. Commenters and bloggers emerged to point to occultists and nefarious shadowy figures that helped down the plane.

While the absence of a distress signal has helped such conspiracy theories abound, it does not rule out the very real possibility that the jet exploded at a high altitude and disintegrated. It’s a terrifying prospect because it would mean no trace of the jet will be found, and that the search for the plane is in vain.

“The fact that there was no distress signal is very disturbing,” Ross Aimer, an aviation consultant, told Al-Jazeera. “It’s almost unprecedented.”

At least 51 people have been killed after twin car bomb blasts went off at a bustling marketplace in Nigeria’s northeastern city of Maiduguri, a Red Cross official said.

The first blast came from a passenger car and did not cause many casualties, said Hassan Ali, the leader of an anti-terror vigilanted group.

Most of those killed had run to the scene to help when a second explosion blasted from a pickup truck carrying firewood, he said.

The attack in the birth place of the armed group Boko Haram is the latest in a string of deadly assaults to hit the West African country.

Boko Haram, blamed for widespread violence in the north east, did not claim responsibilityfor the attack.

The AP reported that many more people were believed buried in rubble from the night explosions that collapsed some buildings.

Other building caught fire with smoke billowing for hours, the AP added, citing the Red Cross official.

The victims include children who were dancing at a wedding celebration and people watching a soccer match on an outdoor TV screen, survivors told the AP.

Survivors said they captured a man who jumped out of the first car, grabbed a tricycle taxi and tried to make off.

He was badly beaten and taken to nearby Umaru Shehu General Hospital, where a security guard said all the wounded brought in had died.

Most spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.

It was not known how many wounded are being treated in at least three hospitals in the city.

The attack is a major setback to a new army and air force offensive against the Boko Haram uprising under new commanders since President Goodluck Jonathan fired his entire military command.

Since then, criticism and anger have grown as attacks by the armed group have increased and become ever deadlier. More than 300 people were killed in February alone.

The Defencee Ministry has blamed recent attacks on fighters escaping from daily aerial bombardments and ground assaults aimed at flushing them out of forest hideouts and mountain caves along the border with Cameroon.

The military closed hundreds of kilometers (miles) of border with Cameroon last week, saying it wanted to stop extremists escaping across the border and using the neighbouring country to launch attacks.

in this new year, we believe you deserve to know the names of those who gave us the worst quotes of the year 2012 and what it was that they said. So here goes.

– “Why is it that each time Barack Obama is about to submit himself for a presidential election and seek a mandate from his people there is a raging, monumental, earth-shattering and record-breaking freak of a storm which kills numerous people in America? What is his source of power?” – Femi Fani-Kayode (November 3rd)

Oh Femi! The man truly is something. Good thing no one is shocked anymore to hear him say stuff like that. Well sir, there is a thing called Google, you should try it out sometimes, it is not, Juju. Ok, let’s save you the trouble: The peak of the American (Atlantic) hurricane season is August to late October and the US election always holds between November 1 and 8. Obama has no hand in either of the two calendars.

– “You can take two litres of acid and shut up.” – Dino Melaye (September 9th)

This Melaye’s tweet, his response to a question on Twitter, was classic. I’ll just say two things about this and shut up. Some of us are lucky in life; we know that the smartest thing to do is never to take a foul-mouthed, ill-tempered, unashamedly hypocritical politician like Melaye seriously. We will live long. The rest of you who continue to think that Melaye means well or is sensible in the least, may you not be forced to swallow acid in 2013.

– “I am even more lenient. When God got angry with the Israelites, he unleashed fire on them. As a considerate man, I am not unleashing fire but simply suspending [Newswatch] magazine” – Jimoh Ibrahim (August 12th)

2012 would be remembered as the year of the Jimoh Ibrahim meltdown. Everything the man touched went under. But despite the number of people now jobless because of him and the creditors he’s been unable to pay, we can at least take solace in the fact that he is a more lenient god.

– “I refer to all the cynics, the pestle-wielding critics, the unrelenting, self-appointed activists, the idle and idling, twittering collective children of anger, the distracted crowd of Facebook addicts, the BBM-pinging soap opera gossips of Nigeria, who seem to be in competition among themselves to pull down President Goodluck Jonathan.” – Reuben Abati (August 26th)

You’ve got to pity dear Abati. This is what happens when you are in competition with a man like Doyin Okupe to win the president’s (or first lady’s) heart. That entire article from which this quote was cut could have made it on this list as one big bad quote. It was that bad.

– “I don’t have any information on that. You don’t expect me to call her and ask ‘when are you returning?’ Is she my mate?” – Spokesman to Dame Patience Jonathan, Ayo Osinlu (September 5th)

This was Osinlu’s response when asked about the first lady who travelled to Germany and refused to return. Surely you must admire this spokesman who respects his mama, sorry boss, so much that he considers it an insult to call her to inquire on when she intends to return from her vacation or rise from the sick bed depending on which rumour you choose to believe.

– “Considering my age, size and past achievements, I don’t think it’s proper for them to call me an attack dog. They should even call me an attack lion.” – Presidential spokesman, Doyin Okupe (August 13th)

Okupe is right, at 60 years old, he’s can’t be called a puppy and he does have quite a few past achievements. But on the matter of ‘size’, how do we verify sir that you’re that big?

– “We must resolve to jointly exorcise the evil spirit behind this darkness… Nigeria needs help.” – Minister of state (power), Hajiya Zainab Kuchi (November 28th)

On the last day a lot of Nigerians would face judgement for false accusation and bearing false witness against evil spirits. Hajiya Kuchi was playing host to South African investors and knew she needed to sound really smart to impress them, so she told them this. Very smart, Madam. Very, very smart.

– “The issue of asset declaration is a matter of personal principle. That is the way I see it, and I don’t give a damn about it, even if you criticise me from heaven.” – President Goodluck Jonathan (June 23rd)

In 2005, a line in the movie, Gone with the wind, was voted as the number one movie line of all time by the American Film Institute. It was spoken by the character, Gable: “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn,” he said. What made it a great movie line was because in those days (1939), it was considered so profane that using it in a movie was very daring. That profanity is what our president brought into all our living rooms during the June media chat. It’s the most thoughtless thing a leader can say to his people. Surprisingly, that was the first time Jonathan would publicly dare God. Nigerians already knew he doesn’t give a damn about us, but did the heavens know he doesn’t give a damn about criticisms from there too?

– “There is no law that says a politician that has been jailed should not be going to the presidential villa. Have you seen Bode George or any of these people and the president kissing…?” – Doyin Okupe defending President Jonathan’s close relationship with ex-convicts (December 6th)

Pause (for 14 years). No, Doyin, we’ve not seen Bode George and President Jonathan kissing. But we’ve seen you… kissing ass.

– “I never promised to reduce poverty. I only promised to create wealth.” – Goodluck Jonathan (November 18th)

Firstly, the quote above is simply not true. The president indeed promised to reduce poverty in at least half a dozen occasions as he campaigned to be president. But that’s not even why this quote is here. It’s here because it doesn’t even mean anything. It’s here because I spent two days trying to figure out if it made any sense at all. It’s here because after he said it some of his aides tried to spin it like he’d made the most profound statement ever. Bleh! That statement is far from profound, I promise you that.

One of the victims of the virginity test, that was allegedly conducted on female students of Ajuwon Senior High School, Ogun State, by their principal, has revealed her fears that she might have lost her virginity, in an interview with PUNCH.

The Victim

The Victim

Why did you choose to do the virginity test when some pupils ran away?

I did not choose to do the test. After I and other female Senior Secondary School one pupils lined up in front of her (Olufunke Aladeojobi’s) office, I fled the scene but she noticed it and sent people after us threatening to deal with us.
Why didn’t you explain to her that you were not interested in the test?
I explained to her that my parents would be mad at me if they got to know that I did such a test without their consent but she brought out a cane and threatened to beat me mercilessly.
What happened afterwards?
Our principal marched me into her office and the school’s nurse asked me to put off my pants and laid me on the bed. She wore a glove, spread my thigh and dipped a finger into my private part. The school nurse then told the principal who was beside her that I was a virgin.
What did your principal do after the nurse said you are a virgin?
The principal said I “should not open my thigh” to any boy or man. She subsequently gave me two Ogun State customised exercise books.
Did you lose blood?
Yes, I lost blood. I didn’t notice it initially. It was the next person who saw me while dressing up that told me that my pants were stained with blood. But, I can’t say if it was the blood from my menstrual period because my menstrual period just ended or the blood was as a result of the virginity test.
Did your principal know you lost blood?
She didn’t because I left the place almost immediately and she was busy attending to other pupils.
How did your parents get to know about the incident?
I washed my blood-stained pants when I got home. I didn’t initially want to tell my mum but she noticed that I was keeping to myself. When she now queried to know what was wrong with me, I explained everything to her.
Did your principal warn you against telling your parents?
No, she didn’t. But I wouldn’t know what she might do to me if she got to know that I told my parents about it because she is strict and we all fear her. That was why I felt reluctant to tell my parents.
How have you been feeling since you underwent the test?
I have been doing fine just that I’m not happy about the incident because my classmates have been looking down on me. They keep saying that we have been “disvirgined.” I feel ashamed of myself.
Are you a virgin?
Yes. I have not had sex before but with what everybody is saying I don’t know if I am still a virgin. I really wish I’m still one.

Some soldiers and civilians have been arrested in connection with the suicide bomb blasts that rocked the military Protestant church inside the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna, yesterday, a military source told us last night.

This came as the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Bola Koleosho, confirmed 11 killed while 30 were injured in the bombing.

Another source however said that 20 worshippers, including a senior military officer, were killed in the church that has a total of 1,200 worshippers. The area was cordoned off immediately the incident happened, thereby preventing journalists from gaining access to the scene.

The blast which affected mostly women and children, left many worshippers severely injured including a senior military officer (names withheld).

Our correspondent gathered that the suicide bombers drove past the command’s gate in a Toyota Camry car and a bus.

LEADERSHIP exclusively gathered that the bombers tricked the soldiers at the gate and passed with the cars loaded with bombs and other church materials.

A source within the military formation who pleaded anonymity, said, “The bombers came through the entrance gate and claimed they were conveying equipment to the church in preparation of next week’s end of year bazaar and thanksgiving service.”

“The bombers hurried through the main military gate and when reaching the protestant church, parked the car at the window of the church choir stand, and immediately, the first explosion took place.  The second one exploded and killed over 20, including a senior officer. It happened around noon while they also wanted to bomb the Catholic church,” the source said.

Another source, who worships in the devastated church, told our correspondent that many military personnel of the Protestant faith worship in the targeted church.

Our correspondents report that the victims were rushed to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital and the 44 Army Reference Hospital.

Confirming the incident, the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Bola Koleosho said, “There were twin suicide bombings yesterday at St. Andrew Military Protestant Church, Jaji Military cantonment, at 1205 hours and 1215 hours.”

“A bus first ran into the church and exploded about five minutes after service while a Toyota Camry parked outside the church detonated 10 minutes later. Figures of casualties are 11 dead and about 30 injured. The injured are receiving treatment at Military hospitals both in Jaji and Kaduna,” he said.

According to him, investigations into the bombings have commenced and the area already cordoned off.”

Although details are still sketchy, We  gathered that there were many casualties.

Kaduan State Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, through his media adviser, Reuben Buhari, said “It is with deep sadness that we sympathise with the family of those affected in the unfortunate incidence. No matter what happened, we are convinced that evil will never triumph over good forever and as such, we call on all to continue to cooperate with the government and security agencies to prevent incidents like this.”

Attack cruel, wicked — Northern Governors

The Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) has commiserated with the Nigerian military over a deadly bomb incident which killed scores of worshippers at the St Andrews Protestant Church located within the Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, describing the attack as cruel and wicked.

Chairman of the forum and Governor of Niger State, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu described the reported death of officers, men and members of their families as a great national loss.

In a statement signed by Governor Aliyu’s Chief Press Secretary, Danladi Ndayebo, the forum said the deceased were heroes and heroines who died in the course of service to our fatherland, and prayed that God will grant repose to their souls and give their families and friends the fortitude to bear the loss.

The statement urged the military not to be discouraged by the dastardly act, emphasizing that the nation would forever remain grateful to the military and other security agencies for the successes recorded so far in the war against terror.

The forum reiterated its commitment to continue to work closely with the federal government in finding a lasting solution to the security challenges confronting the nation.

Tambuwal condemns attack

For his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has condemned Sunday’s bomb blast which claimed multiple lives at the Jaji Military Cantonment in Kaduna State.

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Malam Imam Imam, Tambuwal urged the security agencies not to despair over the attack on their facilities.

He said no religion condones attack on innocent worshippers, and urged all those behind the bombings to stop forthwith.

While grieving with the families of those who lost loved ones in the unfortunate attack in Jaji, Tambuwal prayed for the quick recovery for those injured in the bombings.

He restated the commitment of the House of Representatives to do everything possible to assist security and other relevant agencies to tackle the problems of insecurity in the country.

Gunmen kill man, wife, child in Kano

A family of three, a man, his wife and a child were reportedly shot dead in Kano, yesterday, as unknown gunmen riding on a motorbike shot and killed them at close range while coming out of their residence in Na’ibawa quarters.

The tragic murder took place around 8.30 in the morning, bringing such incidences to five in series within one month in the Naibawa vicinity.

Sources said, the area is gradually slipping into notoriety as a result of serial killings.

According to an eyewitness account, the victims, who hailed from the South Eastern part of the country, were in a red Golf car and were reversing out of their compound to head for their worship place.

It was gathered that there were some vehicles parked in the premises in a single row as they were trying to manoeuvre their way out of the compound, when suddenly the two gunmen riding on motorbike stormed the area shot and killed them instantly.

An eye witness said a few moments after the gunmen escaped from the scene, Operatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF), backed with an armoured tank arrived and cordoned off the area.

Some of the security men reportedly spread to the adjoining streets, and provided tight security to track down the fleeing suspects.

According to a source, before the arrival of security men to the scene, sympathizers, who were frightened, had already gathered at the spot but were scared to move close to the attacked vehicle, the interior of which was smashed with bullets.

Meanwhile, the police had evacuated the bodies of the deceased persons and deposited same at the mortuary for autopsy.

Spokesman of the Kano State Police Command Public Relations officer (PPRO), ASP Magaji Majiya, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that on arrival at the scene security operatives conveyed the deceased to the hospital, who have already given up.

According to the Majiya, one of the man’s sons, who was in the vehicle at the time of the attack escaped unhurt, adding that investigation has begun to unravel the culprits behind the attack.

He therefore called on members of the public to assist the Police with useful information that would lead to the arrest of the fleeing gunmen.

It would be recalled that just last week, two gunmen, riding on a motorbike, shot and killed a Kano State lawmaker, a police officer and three others in Naibawa area.

Meanwhile, suspected gunmen yesterday attacked a divisional police station in Isa local government area of Sokoto State and carted away arms and ammunition a witness has said.

Isa town is about 150 kilometer from the State capital, Sokoto.

The gunmen, according to LEADERSHIP investigation, numbered about ten swamped the police station and opened fire sporadically before storming the armoury where they carted away with numerous arms and ammunition with ease.

However, from all indication they must be one of those armed bandits terrorism innocent people,” the eyewitness recounted.

On the contrary, Sokoto State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Sha’aibu Gambo when contacted confirmed the attack saying his men were able to repel the attackers. He added that, his men at the scene equally recovered some unexploded bombs.

While assuring that his men are on their trail, the CP said no arrest has been made yet.

No official confirmation on the number of casualty at the time of filing this report, however, unconfirmed report has it that a police officer died in the attack.

Shag at Uni

Tom Thurlow known for setting up a successful second-hand book business at the age of 13, has established a very controversial website called ‘’ to allow university students meet up for casual sex.

Thurlow who claims about 722 female students from Oxford university alone dominates the site encourages members to send each other racy messages and meet up for no-strings-attached sex.

Just like a Facebook profile, it allows users to post a which explicitly advertises what they are looking for in a sexual partner.

‘The site is aimed at 18-30s university students, college students and people who may be friends of students. We have seen a real boost from the Oxford students,’ he said.

‘I am not surprised. When I tour the country filming MTV Freshers the Oxford students are always the most wild.

‘They are always uptight in the day but by night they were always the craziest. It doesn’t surprise me they have the highest proportion of women looking for sex.’

Since its launch in October the site has attracted 26,933 members with 18,400 men and 8,533 women signing up for membership.

Daily Mail reports:

Sex-crazed students aged 18-30 can create revealing profiles supplying potential suitors with descriptions of themselves and their sexual preferences.

Some of the academic members even include naked self portraits and explicit details of where and how they like to have sex.

One of Oxford’s academic elite described as ‘voluptuous Sandra’, 19, describes her interests as role playing, home-made adult movies and goes into detail about her favourite sex acts.

Anyone can join the site and users do not need a university email address or tie to a university institution to enter the site.

Tom Thurlow

Mr Thurlow, who has never studied at University, said: ‘At uni it is all night parties, partying on a Monday, Wednesday never mind the weekends.

‘People don’t go to university anymore to learn, they just want to have a good time – and part of that is having lots of sex.

‘I think the reason the site is so popular is that students don’t want commitment and they just want a casual lifestyle.

‘The site is what it is, people hunting for sex and they can approach it however they want through the site.

‘We offer all our members advice for meet-ups expressing how important it is to do the meet and greet in a public place.

‘It is important that our online members are safe.’

Membership is a one off £5 for men and free for women giving users the chance to message each other, “wink” at each other and arrange to meet.

The National Union of Students said today that people should consider their sexual health if getting involved.

#University students sexual practice is entirely a personal choice. The main consideration for the NUS is of course “safety first” and safe sex information is available from most Students Unions,’ a spokesman said.

Hmmmm…… It started in January 2011, when popular Nollywood actor John Okafor’s wife and 1 year old son, Mandela Okafor, were kidnapped and held in captivity for 10 days. Then exactly one year later, 2 year old Mandela died in mysterious circumstances. John Okafor later revealed in an interview that his son died from food poisoning.

John Okafor and Present Wife

In an interview with Entertainment Express yesterday, Mr Okafor accused his ex-wife of poisoning Mandela and also trying to kill him. What he said below:

“My ex-wife and her cohorts planned and kidnapped my wife and child; they were later released after 10 days. I paid the ransom and they came home twelve hours later. That child died a year later through poison. The facts later came out but I don’t want to act on it now. She has made several attempts on my life and that of my immediate family. You will be surprised the day you hear what really happened, but I don’t want to go into details now’.

Hmmm what do you think

Following Police investigations into the killing of about 46 students of Federal Polytechnic Mubi in Adamawa State by alleged unknown gunmen or cultists last week, we can report authoritatively that the killings were perpetrated by an Islamic sect and that masterminds of the gruesome massacre were three students of the polytechnic and one student of the Adamawa State University, Yola.

some of the Corspes

A Police source  disclosed yesterday that 30 suspects had so far been arrested in connection with the massacre and among them are 12 confirmed members of Boko Haram and the four students who have also been confirmed to be members of the dreaded Islamic sect.

According to the source, during investigations, it was discovered that all the 46 students massacred were either the new leadership of the Students Union that were elected the previous week or those that voted to elect the new leadership of the union.

Vanguard was told that from investigations, the masterminds of the killings, belonged to the opposition during the election for the Student Union Government who had boasted that they cannot lose the election as there would be consequences if they didn’t win, a threat that was waved aside by the generality of the students.

When the results were eventually announced and the opposition lost, the three students who are also members of Boko Haram, got in touch with their members for a revenge mission that was timed to occur in the night when all the union leaders as well as their supporters would be in their hostel.
The murder was largely successful because the killers knew the names, abode, movement and whereabouts of their fellow students. Asked if there was a hint of ethnic cleansing in the killings, the source said it was purely election issues and that both Christians and Muslims were killed.

On what will become of the arrested culprits and other suspects, the source said that as soon as investigations were completed, they will be charged to court to face appropriate penalties.

A 16-year-old Bulawayo girl from Zimbabwe has confessed to being part of a satanic cult that allegedly drinks human blood and feeds on human flesh.

Bowl of Blood

The girl left residents’ representatives and Councillor Collet Ndhlovu under whom Cowdray Park falls, dumb-founded as she gave out a list of 38 people including their addresses, which her cult had allegedly killed in the suburb.

She went on to mention about 60 people that she said she worked with. Included in the list were leaders of a big church in Cowdray Park. The girl also gave the address of a house she claimed had an underground room where corpses were kept for the Satanists to feed on.

Mr Stanley Kwashira, the organising secretary of the residents association in Cowdray Park, yesterday said he was still grappling with the “shock of the horror tale.”

“She came to my house with her mother and two members of the residents association in her area last week. She said she was recruited to the group by a 32-year-old man (name withheld), who was her boyfriend. I was ready to dismiss the tale as fabrication of an over-active teenage imagination when she started naming people who we knew had died in the suburb, accurately giving dates of death and addresses,” said a stunned Mr Kwashira.

He said the girl said she joined the group last year when she was 15 years old.

“She said she was in love with a man in the area and one day in June last year, she collapsed as she was going to the shops. She said two men, including the boyfriend, then took her to a house near the bus stop popularly known as the sign post. She said there is an underground room where she went through an initiation process, which included drinking human blood and eating the flesh of dead people,” said Mr Kwashira.

He said the girl revealed that there were about 60 Satanists in the suburb who used to meet at the house.

“She gave names that I am still finding hard to believe. She named some leaders from the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cowdray Park. The girl said the Satanists could become invisible and drain blood from a living person in broad daylight. She said the victims would start feeling weak and go to sleep while the unlucky ones would die,” he said.

Mr Kwashira said the girl told them that she had an invisible basket that she used to fly to rural areas with the cult to “drink from healthy” rural people.

“She said at the last rural raid which lasted about three weeks, last month, her colleagues kicked her out of the group saying it was no longer possible for them to work with her. They said someone from her family was making strong prayers on her behalf, which were creating havoc in their working environment,” he said.

Mr Kwashira said residents leaders needed to engage the police and raid the houses where the girl said Satanists lived.

“She said human blood is the best tasting drink she has ever had. These people were abusing this child. We should get the police and a certified prophet or inyanga and raid those homes. We cannot have killers living among us,” he said.

Mr Kwashira said the girl’s mother sobbed uncontrollably throughout the narrative.

When Chronicle visited the suburb yesterday, the girl said her mother had instructed her not to speak to anyone on the matter.

When this reporter called her mother, she said she was in Harare and would only grant a face to face interview last night or this morning. Contacted for comment, Clr Ndhlovu confirmed the incident.

“Yes, the matter has been reported to me. It is still not known to a majority of residents. We should handle it tactfully because it has the potential to create a bloodbath in the suburb,” said Clr Ndhlovu. He said it was frightening to hear that there were people who were eating other people in the suburb.

“The matter was reported to the police last week. Today, I am going to the police to work out a way of solving the issue without raising tempers. I also think the people who were mentioned should be investigated and their houses searched,” said Clr Ndhlovu.

Police spokesperson for Bulawayo Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo could neither confirm nor deny the incident.

“We will give you the information as soon as we get it,” said Insp Moyo.

The Four Young Men Before and During Gruesome Murder

The brutal murder of the Four students of the University of Port Harcourt has become a major source of worry to many Nigerians who feel that human lives have no value as far as the country is concerned.

Since the incident, many people have advocated for the immediate arrest of those behind the heinous act and possibly charge them if found guilty. While some have continued to advocate for death sentence, others advocate for life imprisonment.

However, Freeman’s Lounge  investigation reveals that none of the four murdered students was involved in robbery or any kind of pilfering. Our correspondent spoke with an anonymous colleague of the late Llyod and Ugo whom he said were aspiring musicians and his colleagues.

It was gathered from the source that Ugo and Lloyd were cousins. Someone was indebted to Ugo around the community and had vowed not to pay. Ugo who was popularly known as Tipsy had gone to meet with a fearless University guy (name-withheld) to help them track the debtor who had been on the run. The guy who was feared by many in the school had accepted to accompany his friends to get the debtor tracked down and get his own percentage of the money. They were joined by their room mate, Chidiaka. On their way to the place, they met one of their friends, Tekena, who knew nothing about the plan, and he joined, just for the hype as it’s normal with young boys of juvenile age.

They were actually 5 that got to the debtor’s compound. Unknown to the other four, the “Confra” guy who was contracted to intimidate the debtor just to get the money paid went with a gun .When they got to the guy’s house around 12am, fight ensued, as the debtor confronted them. A next door neighbour, a woman started shouting on top of her voice, that they were thieves, attracting other bad boys around the areas, whom they said were mainly “vickins”, rival cult group of the one on contract. They swung into action by tipping the vigilantee who confronted the boys, referring to them as thieves. At the process of beating the boys, and while they were trying to explain, the fifth ‘guy’,the cultist brought out his gun to scare the people, and he escaped, leaving the rest four at the mercy of the villagers.

The explanation they tried to give fell on the community’s deaf ears as the people insisted that they must be killed. Another close friend of Ugo and Lloyd had reacted by calling on the president to take action against those behind the murder of the four students.
