In addition to the houses and properties worth millions of naira destroyed, the flood also killed no fewer than 150 animals. the eye-witness said.

A NAN correspondent who visited the scene on Friday, reports that some of the affected families had taken refuge in the houses of their neighbours.

Malam Sani Mai’adua, a victim, whose house collapsed during the rainfall, said he had moved his family to a friend’s house and solicited for the state and local government’s assistance.

Other victims described the flood as “devastating” and appealed to the state government to construct a drainage system in the affected areas to prevent any recurrence of disaster in future.

Alhaji Abba Yusuf, the Mai’adua local government Caretaker Chairman, who confirmed the incident, said that the Mai’adua  headquarters of the local government and Gwajo-gwajo village were the worst-hit by the flood.

“I am appealing to the state government and donor agencies to come to the aid of the people of the affected areas.” (NAN)
